Research

The Descartes Centre research programme coincides with the University's research focus area History and Philosophy of the Sciences and the Humanities.

This research offers a long-term historical and philosophical perspective on scientific developments that have a major impact on society, for example in the field of scientific integrity, the position of science in society, and research funding. These developments are analysed and discussed by the members of the Descartes Centre who, based on their wide expertise, identify potential solutions and alternatives.

The research conducted by members of the Descartes Centre is also incorporated within History and Philosophy of Science education, which must be considered essential baggage for every graduate academic.
