Eichmann im Kalten Krieg

Associate Professor in the Media and Culture Studies Department Judith Keilbach published a film titled Eichmann im Kalten Krieg (Eichmann in the Cold War) on historical television programmes from East and West German which reported on the trial against Adolf Eichmann (1961).

Television coverage

The television coverage of the trial against Adolf Eichmann illustrates that the Nazi past was part of the ideological rivalry between both Germanies and shows how Cold War politics affected the trial reporting. While West Germany was concerned with its reputation in the Western world, East Germany tried to alert the world to the Nazi past of high-ranking West German politicians.

DVD and booklet

The DVD  Eichmann im Kalten Krieg is accompanied by a booklet, which is available online as teaching material. Eichmann im Kalten Krieg is the result of a cooperation with the Leibniz-Zentrum für Zeithistorische Forschung Potsdam and the Public History study programme at Freie Universität Berlin.
