Utrecht Science Park/De Uithof is Utrecht University’s largest campus and is located in the east of the city, between the A27 and A28 motorways. De Uithof covers an area of more than 300 hectares, of which approximately 260 are owned by the university. Utrecht Science Park not only houses the greater part of the university, but it also accommodates the University Medical Center Utrecht, five faculties of the Hogeschool Utrecht, a number of research institutes and research companies, student accommodation, sports and recreation facilities, restaurants and shops.
An important step in the development of the area was the recent adoption of the Uithof Zoning Plan (2010), which will enable its further development as a campus and as the main business site of the Utrecht Science Park. On working days, De Uithof accommodates around 60,000 people.
