Sicco de Knecht joins UU Open Science Programme Team

Sicco de Knegt

As of 1 September Sicco de Knecht will join the Open Science Programme Team of Utrecht University, which is headed by vice-rector and initiator of the Science in Transition movement Frank Miedema.

“This philosophy appeals to me since my PhD-track I am convinced that education and research can and must be improved, it must be more open and we must engage in continuous dialogue with society.” De Knecht is currently editor-in-chief of ScienceGuide.

I would like to contribute to the change that Utrecht University is making as a forerunner in the field of Open Science.

Sicco de Knecht

Sicco can draw on broad experience in the field of open access, rewards and incentives and value and many other aspects of open science in the broadest sense of the word.

“Until now I have followed these developments as an outsider, now it is time to contribute to them from within. I want to take into account the many insights that I have gained in recent years, from practice-oriented research to the philosophy of science. I would like to contribute to the change that Utrecht University is making as a forerunner in the field of Open Science.”
