New light on still-life paintings from the Golden Age

A new research project led by Prof. Jeroen Stumpel (Art History) aims to gain more insight into techniques, production, materials and textures of still lives from the Golden Age. The project ‘Recipes and realities: An analysis of texture rendering in still-life painting’ will be carried out in collaboration with Delft University of Technology. The Rijksmuseum and Mauritshuis participate as well. The Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) has granted a subsidy of  € 500,000,-.
