Maartje de Graaf included in ‘Inspiring Fifty NL’

Fifty most inspiring women in technology

Maartje de Graaf, behavioural scientist at the department of Computer Science, has been chosen as one of the fifty role models of Inspiring Fifty Netherlands. The list is intended to increase diversity in technology by making female role models in tech more visible. This year’s Inspiring Fifty Netherlands will be unveiled today at a festive event at coding college Codam in Amsterdam.

De Graaf studies how people interact with robot technology. “In social sciences, we have theories about how people interact with each other. But can we also apply these theories to the relationship between humans and robots, or do we need new theories for that? If we learn more about how people react to and are influenced by robots, we can use that knowledge to develop robots that benefit society.”
