The research project

By analysing different cultural representations of violence in the nation’s margins, the project will gain insight in the mediating role of stories in the shaping of a national memory and in conflict-resolution.

The fellowship allows Dhondt to conduct research for a period of twelve months at the Goethe-Universität in Frankfurt am Main and to undertake short-term research stays at the Universität Konstanz and the Ibero-Amerikanisches Institut in Berlin.
