CCSS Master Travel Fund Call

To further develop the research skills of the Master students of the Master's profile Complex Systems, the Centre for Complex Systems Studies (CCSS) decided to continue providing financial support for the students who wish to pursue education abroad or to conduct part of their research project abroad.

Aim of the call

To offer the Master students of the Master’s profile Complex Systems and Complex Systems track in Mathematical Sciences the opportunity to pursue education abroad or to conduct part of their research project abroad on a complex systems topic.

Conditions

  • The applicant is registered as the Master students of the Master's profile Complex Systems or Complex Systems track in Mathematical Sciences.
  • Education and/or research should be related to the field of complex systems.
  • The applicant is/will be supervised by a scientist within the Complex Systems Studies.
  • The application must be pre-approved and signed by the (co-)supervisor.
  • Hosting agreements should be arranged by the applicant.
  • For the current call, education and/or research will preferably take place in 2018.
  • The application gives a brief impression of the nature of the travel, the Master student, the study/research area, the scientific contribution to complexity research, the length of the stay and the requested budget.
  • A maximum of € 1500 is available per application. Declarable costs are for travel, housing and if applicable the followed course. Costs such as consumable research resources are not declarable.
  • Each applicant can submit only one application for this call.
  • The application must be submitted in the enclosed format. 


Assessment criteria

  • Track record of the Master student.
  • Added value to the Complex Systems Studies and community at Utrecht University.

Procedure and timeline

  • Submit by email to Complex Systems Studies coordinator dr. Qingyi Feng (q.feng@uu.nl).
  • Deadline is March 18th 2018, 24:00 hrs.
  • The applications will be checked on eligibility. Students of non-eligible applications will be informed before March 23rd 2018.
  • The jury will discuss all eligible applications. Members of the jury will not contribute to the decision process on applications of their own group.
  • All applicants will be notified at the latest by the end of April 2018.

Other obligation

  • The successful applicant will be asked to write a short article about his/her experiences afterwards for media, for example, the website or newsletter of the CCSS.
