Improving laying hen welfare through computer vision

This project is part of the IMAGEN research program. Within this project, we are developing a computer vision algorithm for tracking laying hen position and behaviour on the individual level within groups. This will allow us to automatically measure different types of behaviour associated with welfare. Computer vision is expected to yield valuable tools, both for detailed individual tracking in small groups of hens and for more general group or flock level tracking in commercial flocks of laying hens in cage-free systems.
