Goal

The aim of this project is to contribute to a culture in which all prospective students feel welcome and seen during the application, enrollment and selection process. This ensures that there are no obstacles to following a Bachelor's or Master's program at Utrecht University.

Why is it important to have a more diverse student population at Utrecht University?

  • A heterogeneous group of students can contribute to the quality of education by bringing together more diverse perspectives in the lecture hall. In this way, students become acquainted with other perspectives and learn to relate to them. This process is not self-evident and requires didactic embedding.
  • Education in a diverse group prepares students better for a rapidly changing society, in which people are needed who can deal with different perspectives.
  • Equal opportunities in intake and selection helps to remove any barriers for prospective students. This requires programs to be aware of this in the way they present themselves

In the second phase (from September 2021) the project has as a new goal the realization of the embedding of the theme in the faculties by:

  • Making more programs aware of the importance of the role of diversity in intake. Special attention is paid to programs that are not necessarily at the forefront of this theme;
  • Facilitate these programs in formulating and realizing their own goals;
  • Structurally embedding the systematic attention to these objectives in the organization
