Green Office Utrecht, the sustainability community of Utrecht University, organises from 23 until 26 November the fourth edition of the Green Office Summit. Representatives of 27 Green Offices (and comparable initiatives) of Europe come together to make contact, collaborate, share ideas and gain inspiration.

Together with partner organisations RootAbility, Studenten voor Morgen and Green Office HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht, Green Office Utrecht will welcome roughly 100 young change makers who work on making their universities or universities of applied sciences more sustainable. During the Summit, they will attend workshops, brainstorms and lectures hosted by various employees of Utrecht University. The centre stage will be for what Utrecht University does in the field of sustainability in its research and operations, such as nudging, circularity, sustainable catering and the origins of the CO2 strategy.

Best practices will also be shared during the Summit. Aside from that, getting to know the city of Utrecht is also on the programme, including visiting sustainable initiatives in the city, such as The Colour Kitchen and The Social Impact Factory. After the Summit, the Green Office Utrecht will organise follow-up workshops to share the acquired knowledge and insights with the UU-community.

Platform for employees and students

Since 2013, the Green Office Utrecht supports the sustainable development of Utrecht University. With, among other things, the campaigns Green Canteen, Sustainable UU, Sustainable me and the activities SusTasty, UU Talks and Sustainability Cafés. These days, the Green Office Living Lab has become one of the most successful projects in which the results of sustainability research are actually implemented in the university.

Chain reaction

The Summit in Utrecht succeeds earlier editions in Berlin (2014), Rotterdam (2015) and Amsterdam (2016) and promises to become the biggest meeting of the Green Office movement so far.
