Students offer tutoring to help high school pupils prepare for tests and exams

Entrepreneurship in times of crisis

Even though the schools are closed, all pupils deserve good guidance in their school work. With this vision, StudentenHelpenScholieren.nl was founded. Through this matching platform, high school pupils can look for a student who can help with online tutoring.

The idea for the platform came from Sander Bos, student Liberal Arts and Sciences at Utrecht University, who decided to help his younger sister with the preparations for her final exams. He figured that more pupils could use help, now that the schools are closed due to measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

36 hours

For the realization of StudentenHelpenScholieren.nl, Sander teamed up with Herman van den Berg of UtrechtInc, and Jaap Koelewijn and Erik Methorst of Helpr. Together they worked hard to realize the platform in just 36 hours.

Helpr makes educational chatbots for the development of study skills, choosing an education programme or as a coach for e-learning when following online modules. For StudentenHelpenScholieren.nl Helpr makes their chatbot available for study skills. Publisher ThiemeMeulenhoff contributes by providing 'Examenbundels'.

Donate for tutoring

Although the website has only been online for a few hours, more than 2500 tutoring hours have already been offered by students. Everything is ready to match these students with pupils who are in need of a tutor to prepare for tests or exams.

Sympathizers who want to contribute in a different way can make a donation for the expenses of the offered teaching materials, the digital tools and the time of the student. The use of StudentenHelpenScholieren.nl is free, the platform is not for profit.
