Researchers working at Utrecht University or UMC Utrecht can apply for the Public Engagement Seed Fund to help fund a public enagement activity to engage a general audience with academic research, to a maximum of € 10.000

Previously, we worked with a spring and autumn call every year. In 2023, we will do this differently: during the year, you can send in an application as a researcher. Every six weeks, incoming applications will be assessed by the jury. Deadlines are:

  • Monday 5 June 2023

  • Monday 21 August 2023

  • Wednesday 4 October 2023

  • Wednesday 15 November 2023

Focus on interaction

A good public engagement activity is characterised by a clear focus on a specific target group, which is logical or relevant in the context of your research (question). Thereby, interaction is very important and the focus of the application is on questions, methods, results and yields of (your) scientific research.

Inspiration and contact

Curious about Seed Fund predecessors? In the autumn of 2022, the Seed Fund went to seven researchers. For inspiring stories and experiences on public engagement there is the magazine In Beeld but you can also check our website
