Jessica Dorsey appointed as Expert Advisor for GC REAIM
Global Commission on Responsible Artificial Intelligence in the Military Domain
Jessica Dorsey is appointed as a member of the Global Commission on Responsible Artificial Intelligence in the Military Domain (GC REAIM), for her expertise in international humanitarian law and AI. She joins a team consisting of experts from North America, Latin America, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Oceania and Asia. "I am thrilled to join a group of exceptional practitioners, scholars, and experts in this space, some of whom I’ve had the pleasure to connect with already", she announced on LinkedIn.
GC REAIM is an initiative of the Government of the Netherlands that was launched during the 2023 REAIM Summit on Responsible Artificial Intelligence in the Military Domain in The Hague. Dorsey took part in summit, where she coordinated a session to discuss the most pressing issues regarding the realities of the use, impact and regulation of military AI.
"I am privileged to add my voice and expertise to initiatives within the Commission’s work to center considerations of the realities of these technological developments, their implications for civilians caught up in warfare, and offer ways to view the development and deployment of military AI through a human-centric lens on the legitimacy of military operations", Jessica says.
About GC REAIM: Promoting norm development and policy coherence
GC REAIM is being established, for an initial period of two years, to help promote mutual awareness and understanding among the many communities working on issues related to the global governance of AI in the military domain. By linking dialogues between these communities, the Global Commission will contribute to an essential global task: supporting fundamental norm development and policy coherence in this field.
The Global Commission on Responsible Artificial Intelligence in the Military Domain (GC REAIM) is an initiative of the Government of the Netherlands that was launched during the 2023 REAIM Summit on Responsible Artificial Intelligence in the Military Domain in The Hague.
Upon request of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Hague Centre for Strategic Studies acts as the Secretariat of the Commission.
