Call for proposals open: Open and Online Education incentive scheme 2021

ICT in education presents opportunities for innovation and quality improvement. Consequently, the Minister for Education, Culture and Science is making funding available through the Open and Online Education incentive scheme, which is being coordinated by SURF. The incentive scheme encompasses two pillars: Online Education and Open Learning Materials.

A sum of €700,000 has been made available for each of these pillars. As a member of teaching staff, you can apply for €100,000 (Online Education) or €175,000 (Open Learning Materials) for an educational innovation project. These amounts need to be matched 100% by your faculty. Funding and awards give teaching staff the means to enrich their teaching and make progress in their educational career. This helps make them more visible and in a wider sense garners recognition for their role.

Themes

Online Education: the Online Education pillar sees participants challenged to enrich their teaching with online teaching methods or to redesign their curriculum with the possibilities that online teaching offers. The annual theme for 2021 is 'activating learning and assessment'. As a minimum, project proposals submitted must tie in with one of the two challenges that this annual theme encompasses. Read more on the annual theme 'activating learning and assessment' on the SURF website.

Open Learning Materials: the Open Learning Materials pillar sees participants challenged to join forces with other subject lecturers to build collections of open learning materials and reuse these within the subject community. In order to ensure wide-ranging relevance of the project results, the application must be submitted in conjunction with at least one other higher education institution. There most likely will be a collaboration with our partners Wageningen University & Research, Eindhoven University of Technology en the UMC Utrecht given the themes of this call. You can read more about this alliance here.
