8 November Data Science Day 2019: More Data Science awareness with researchers

This year marked the third time the focus area Utrecht Applied Data Science (ADS) and the department of Information & Technology Services (ITS) collaborated on Data Science Day.

Collaboration
Besides providing IT Services that are essential to the University and its researchers, like infrastructure and information security, the mission of ITS is to improve the quality of research through facilitating solid data management from collection tot publication.

The focus area Applied Data Science initiates a multidisciplinary systematic approach to the broad scope of data issues and aims to connect data researchers working in various disciplines with one another.

Strengthen the data science community
On the 8th of November, the collaboration resulted in 4 interesting keynotes and a deep dive into specific themes at the break out sessions. Also, for the first time researchers could pitch their project to their peers. With pitches and poster presentations, researchers were able to highlight their research projects, to strengthen the data science community.

On this day we saw even more participant than the last edition. A good indicator that we provide a need for the researchers of both Utrecht University and University Medical Center Utrecht.

What we saw throughout the programme were the lively interactions and discussions about the applications, and learning from fellow researchers on data issues and data approaches.
