Can humans be friends with a robot?

Sven Nyholm PhD (Ethics Institute) talked on different radio shows and podcasts about his new book Humans and Robots. Ethics, Agency, and Anthropomorphism.

Nyholm says that humans should be open to a new way of interacting with robots, but we should stay critical about the dangers of artificial intelligence. It's easier for robots to harm people than to help or improve them.

Intimate feelings

Even when robots are able to imitate human-like, even friendly, behaviour, we should still be wary, Nyholm states. As humans we really care about people's opinions and the way they think. Since robots don't have emotions, they can't create these intimate feelings and connections.
