Webinar: Racism and Discrimination within universities

to

Racism and Discrimination at the university is a topic that is not widely discussed. In this webinar we explore the situation, its underlying processes and we ask the question what needs to be done to make universities more inclusive spaces. Before the seminar we ask you to watch the documentary Somalinimo (20 minutes, see video above). In this documentary four British-Somali students share their experiences what it is like to study at Cambridge University as female Black Muslim students. Together with the 2021 winner of the Diversity Award and the project leader of Incluusion we specifically zoom in on the situation of Utrecht University in this webinar.

This new webinar series organized by the Focus Area Migration and Societal Change discusses the major trends concerning migration, racism and discrimination. High levels of racism, as well as institutionalized or structural discrimination are causing various forms of inequality in society and have negative effects on quality of life and social cohesion.
