Pablo Ibáñez Colomo is Professor of Law at the London School of Economics. He is also a Visiting Professor at the College of Europe (Bruges) and a Joint General Editor of the Journal of European Competition Law & Practice. He has been an Ordinary Member at the Competition Appeal Tribunal since 2023, and joined chillingcompetition.com, the most authoritative blog on EU competition law, as a co-editor in 2014.

Competition law fundamentally changed

Colomo's book The New EU Competition Law provides the first comprehensive account of an emerging understanding of EU competition law that breaks from the consensus of the early 2000s and that ventures into uncharted territories. Competition law has undergone fundamental transformations in the past decade, from the rise and fall of the 'effects-based approach' to the challenge of Big Tech and the growing interaction with intellectual property. The book discusses the shift from traditional enforcement in the industrial era to the sort of intervention that a knowledge-based economy demands.
