Almost a quarter of a million children in the Netherlands are living below the poverty line. Poverty is much less visible in Leidsche Rijn than in some other parts of Utrecht, but it does exist. Children cannot go on a school trip or live in a family that experiences a lot of stress. In addition, it also has a huge impact on the extent to which children can participate with their peers. What is the relationship between poverty and the mental health of young people?

Opportunities (in)equality is the third in the series 'What's going on? talks' that Podium Hoge Woerd presents in collaboration with the Center for Science and Culture of Utrecht University. These talks take place in the studio of Podium Hoge Woerd and are given by various speakers from Utrecht University. There is a short lecture, after which there is room for questions and conversation.
