PhD defence: High-Resolution Modelling of Climate Variability Using the CESM 1.0.4
Thesis by R.M. van Westen MSc
This thesis explores climate variability and sea-level rise projections in a high-resolution climate model. The results of the high-resolution model are compared with a typical low-resolution model. Climate variability and the climate mean state are realistically simulated in the high-resolution model. Model biases in the climate mean state are reduced in the high-resolution model compared to the low-resolution model. As a consequence, sea-level projections strongly differ between the two models.
