Frequently asked questions
UCE can include existing (individual) connections in the overview of contacts and, if required, maintain the contact, so that a sustainable (less vulnerable) relationship is created.
External organisations that seek cooperation with UU are often looking for a specific subject or expertise for an issue and want to make use of UU's knowledge and expertise. When external organisations seek contact with UU, UCE will refer these organisations to relevant UU departments with the knowledge and expertise that can help these organisations further.
UCE supports the collaboration with external partners, but does not actively engage in the development of education (PhD tracks). If help is needed with the collaboration, for example looking for partners or drawing up a contract with an external organisation, UCE can be helpful in referring students to the organisation within the UU with the required expertise.
U-Collaborate in Education does not organise education itself, but is an umbrella programme. UCE is a kind of broker who likes to bring parties together to strengthen education, if there is a need for it.
Internships are often very specifically linked to certain expertise/disciplines. UCE does not mediate internships but can provide information about them if required. UCE can also refer to KonJoin, a platform specifically for this purpose.
Transdisciplinarity is defined as "the mobilisation of a range of theoretical perspectives and methodologies to solve problems". In transdisciplinary education, the starting point is a real problem or challenge, which is brought in by a non-academic partner and worked on together. With the baggage of their (disciplinary) background, students learn to build bridges to the outside world and become aware of different starting points and interests, learn to connect ideas, and see and bridge gaps between different groups. Transdisciplinary education helps students to learn problem-solving skills with their (disciplinary) background as a starting point.
