The cultural and creative sector faces major challenges. How do culture and economy relate to each other? What does digitisation mean for the creative process? Can you reach audiences at a distance in an empathetic way? How do you deal with the constantly changing guidelines of funds? And how do you keep developing yourself on a conceptual and artistic level alongside all the organisational tasks? Artistic leaders are both creators and course setters. They play a major role within a sector and a society in which experience, culture and ecology are increasingly intertwined with economics and (the consequences of) technology and digitalisation. This requires knowledge of making processes as well as contemporary cultural theory and philosophy and governance, management and organisation. LinC A is a programme developed for the artistic leader, maker, and art and culture professional in the cultural and creative sector who wants to deepen and connect her conceptual, methodological and strategic baggage with that of others in the sector.
The Utrecht School of Management and Organisational Science (USBO) and the Creative Humanities Academy (CHA), both part of Utrecht University, have joined forces to develop a programme focused on knowledge development and circulation, inspired and informed creative design, and personal development in the areas of artistic leadership and mastery. The programme consists of two Masterclasses, two interactive Labs and a kick-off and closing meeting. It is a rich mix of theoretical and practical depth: from conceptualising your work within the contemporary and cultural-historical landscape and establishing personal artist statements to practising difficult conversations with clients through live theatre. In addition, LinC A offers tailored guidance through coaching and peer supervision.
