The section Applied Economics covers fields within economics such as Public Economics, Labour Economics, Health Economics, Behavioural Economics, Economics of Crime and Economics of Aging. Most research is empirical research and makes use of survey and administrative data. Modern econometric techniques are applied, theoretical insights from Economics and other disciplines are being used, and there is a strong focus on policy relevance. These characteristics of the section also shape the curriculum at U.S.E.
