Marty Colombo MSc

I’m Marty, a PhD Candidate at prof. dr. Naomi Ellemers' Organisational Behavior Group, under the supervision of prof. dr. Daan Scheepers and dr. Félice van Nunspeet. My pronouns are they/them in English, and die/diens in Dutch.

I have a research master in Social and Organizational Psychology from Leiden University, and a Bachelor in Science and Techniques of Psychology from the University of Milano-Bicocca.

My research interests lie in the multidisciplinary and intersectional understanding of how people engage with their social and political environment, and how to translate such theoretical insight into practical solution fostering equality, justice, and freedom. Some of my previous work addressed political participation, gender binary beliefs, and heteronormativity in the workplace.

My current PhD project focuses on the coping mechanisms that people adopt when faced with social change. Building on the biopsychosocial model of challenge and threat, our research interrogates the possibility of promoting more adaptive responses (i.e., challenge) to social change and how such responses shape people’s information processing.
