Henrico van Roekel is an assistant professor at the Utrecht University School of Governance (USG). He studies public sector workers through a behavioral lens. This includes how leadership and the use of behavioral insights influence employee well-being and equal treatment of clients/citizens. He uses Open Science principles throughout his work.
Mostly, Henrico applies experimental methods (e.g., field, survey and natural experiments). His research has been published in various journals such as Behavioural Public Policy, Public Management Review and Educational Research Review, and has been featured in media outlets like Behavioral Scientist, NRC and BNR.
As a board member of the Dutch Association for Public Administration, Henrico contributes to making public administration research accessible to the general public. In 2022, he was a visiting scholar (and he is an affiliated scholar since) at The People Lab, Harvard University (Boston, MA).
