Annemarie van de Vijsel is a research communications editor at the faculty of Geosciences at Utrecht University. Annemarie works for both the departments within the faculty and the university-wide strategic theme Pathways to Sustainability. She aims to communicate about Utrecht research to a broader audience by writing for the website, social media, and newsletters in English and Dutch, and by establishing contact with the press. She also co-organises the annual Pathways to Sustainability conference. Annemarie started this position in January 2018.
Previous positions
Before starting this position, Annemarie worked as a knowledge broker at The Broker and as a knowledge manager at the Knowledge Platform on Inclusive Development Policies, a platform commissioned by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, from 2013 to 2018. In these positions she mainly focused on bringing research results to policy in the field of international development.
Education
Annemarie studied Human Geography and Planning at the faculty of Geosciences of Utrecht University (BSc) and participated in its honours programme. After that, she completed a research master's in International Development Studies at the University of Amsterdam (MSc), and a master's in Journalism and Media at the same university (MA).
