Education
In our Bachelor and Master education we integrate scientific knowledge and clinical practice as much as possible. This is achieved by obtaining input of experienced scientist-practitioners working across a wide range of clinical fields. Our aim is to provide students with the latest scientific insights, to promote critical and innovative thinking and to provide students with solid basic skills that can be applied in their future careers as a clinical psychologist or researcher, or in (mental) health care.
The Clinical Psychology department is involved in the following study programmes:
Postgraduate education
After obtaining a Master degree in Clinical Psychology, students may continue their studies with a two-year postgraduate course to become a health care psychologist (GZ-psychologist) or a three- or four-year course to become a psychotherapist. GZ-psychologist and psychotherapist are protected professions under the BIG Act. After training to a GZ-psychologist, further training can be followed to become a clinical psychologist or clinical neuropsychologist, two so-called specialist professions in the BIG Act. Several employees of our department of Clinical Psychology are involved in this post-academic education.
Post-academic education has specific admission requirements and takes place within healthcare institutions. Students who have successfully completed our undergraduate and graduate programs are qualified to apply for this postgraduate course. These programs for postgraduate education are in Dutch.
