The PIAMA birth cohort study

PIAMA (Prevention and Incidence of asthma and mite allergy) is a large ongoing population-based birth cohort study with prenatal inclusion in 1995/96 and follow-up continuing until today . The study was designed to study the influence of lifestyle, environmental and genetic factors on the development of asthma and allergies and lung function. Currently also other health outcomes, including cardiometabolic health outcomes are studied.

CHAMP

The CHAMP (Child Health through Artificial intelligence Models and Predictions) project aims to develop and apply deep learning techniques to extract valuable information on early brain and social-emotional development from already acquired images and videos to predict mental health outcome in children.

Duration: 2023 – 2028

 

CLAIRE 

The CLAIRE (Comparison of long-term air pollution exposure assessment based on mobile monitoring, low-cost sensors, dispersion modelling and routine monitoring-based models) project compares different approaches to asses long-term exposure to (traffic-related) air pollution in terms of performance of assessing spatial variation and in air pollution effect estimates in selected epidemiological studies in the Netherlands.

Duration: 2020 - 2023

 

EXPANSE 

EXPANSE is a five-year European research project that focusses on the urban exposome and involves 20 academic and non-academic partners located in 14 European countries and the USA. EXPANSE is one of the nine projects that form the European Human Exposome Network.

Duration: 2020 – 2025

 

PARC 

The European Partnership for the Assessment of Risks from Chemicals (PARC), was launched in Paris, France, seeking to develop next-generation chemical risk assessment, incorporating both human health and the environment in a "One Health" approach. It will help support the European Union's Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability and the European Green Deal's "zero pollution" ambition.

Duration: 2022 – 2027

 

UBD Policy 

The UBD Policy (Urban Burden of Disease Estimation For Policy Making) project aims to improve the estimation of health impacts and socioeconomic costs and/or benefits of environmental stressors, advance methodological approaches and foster their acceptance as common good practice for urban areas, to help strengthen evidence-based policy making at city, national and EU level. 

Duration: 2023 - 2026

 

YOUth 

YOUth (Youth Of Utrecht) is a large-scale, longitudinal cohort following children in their development from pregnancy until early adulthood. A total of 5,000 babies and children from Utrecht and its surrounding areas will be included in two different age groups and followed at regular intervals.
