Career prospects

Positions obtained by our graduates include both creative and executive jobs. Graduates also find their way in policy and education functions and work for funding agencies. In addition, alumni in Film and Television Cultures will be well equipped to pursue positions that involve research and/or analytical thinking.  During the programme there is ample opportunity to prepare for your future career.

Involved in research on sustainability of Dutch film industry

Alumna Fieke Spoler was part of a small research team at Utrecht University that studied how Dutch film productions are realised and examined ways to make the industry more sustainable. Her graduation work placement consisted of research into sustainability in Dutch film production. Personal supervision

Your personal supervisor will guide you through the individual phase of your programme and advice you on ways to connect your interests and career goals with a research profile and internship strategies.

Media studies career event

Prior to starting the internship, you can find inspiration and explore job options at the career event for master students in Media Studies (Film and Television Cultures + New Media & Digital Culture). You will meet alumni and professionals active in a range of domains and positions.

Career Services

Career Services offers events, tests, coaching and training in and outside your Master's programme, related to professional self-analysis, career orientation and job application skills. Other career events

  • Your Perspective is a monthly career orientation meeting for students and alumni of the Faculty of Humanities at Utrecht University. 
  • The Faculty of Humanities organises a Career Night Humanities with interesting partners who will illustrate the diversity in career opportunities for humanities graduates.
  • Once a year Utrecht University organises a Careers Day. This Careers Day offers the opportunity to sign up for workshops and trainings, and to meet recruiters at the careers fair.
