Multisensory congruency and attentional control as a therapy for patients with tinnitus or autism

When two different images are presented to each eye, the percept will alternate between these two images. When a sound is played with the same rhythm as one of the images it is easier to control attention to that image.

In the same way a visual (and/or tactile) stimulus enhances attention to a sound. We will apply this principle of multisensory congruency as a therapy for two different disorders, tinnitus and autism, which share a critical role of attention.
