We aim to create sustainability-related testing grounds on campus in which we bring education, research and operations together (strategic plan, 2025). These testing grounds are living labs: real-world experiments in which researchers, students and societal partners co-create solutions for complex sustainability challenges.
We facilitate the development of these living labs by mobilising people and their ideas. In doing so we provide a learning experience based on solving real world problems.
Find out how you can participate in, learn from or contribute to UULabs. We base our living labs on the core attributes model developed by Claudia Stuckrath and Jésus Rosales.
We formulated five operating principles for UULabs’ orchestration team and for lab initiators. These principles, based on co-creation workshops in 2021 with academic and operational university staff, guide the methods and thematic direction of our living labs.
