Vici grant for Marco van Leeuwen

NWO has awarded Marco van Leeuwen a Vici grant of 1.5 million euros for his project “Resolving the structure of the Quark-Gluon Plasma”.

In this project, van Leeuwen will study the structure of the Quark-Gluon Plasma by using energetic particles that propagate through the plasma. The project will use the large sample of heavy-ion collisions that has been collected by the ALICE experiment at CERN in Geneva in 2018, as well as new data that will be collected with the upgraded detector in 2021 and 2022.

Vici

A total of 32 Vici grants have been awarded by the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) this year. The Vici grant enables leading scientists to develop an innovative line of research and set up their own research group in the coming five years. Vici is one of the largest scientific grants for individuals in the Netherlands and targets advanced researchers.
