Temporary fewer parking spaces at Padualaan

Utrecht University is growing faster than expected in student numbers. In order to meet the demand for teaching locations, Utrecht University has decided to temporarily provide additional locations for the coming academic year 2022-2023. To compensate for the shortage in the USP, a temporary education building will be built on the Padualaan parking lot (P6). This has consequences for the available number of parking spaces.

Parking at P-Padualaan

This week the construction of the temporary education building gained momentum. The permit to start construction was issued unexpectedly quick by the municipality of Utrecht. Because the demand for educational locations is high and to prevent further delays, the construction is started urgently. The first preparatory work will start in the week of 11 July.

During the construction period in the summer holidays, P-Padualaan will have limited availability. This is to give the contractor the room to carry out the work safely. The cordoned off construction area includes more parking spaces than the temporary building will eventually take up.

The expectation is that the work will be completed by early September and that the temporary building can be put into use. From that moment on, a total of 132 parking spaces will be occupied by the building. More than 200 parking spaces will remain available. The temporary education building will be available for education for the period of one to two years. (Map of the P6 situation as of September 2022 - dutch only)
