Successful international iRODS data management congress at Utrecht University

iRODS UGM 2019

iRODS experts from all over the world came to Utrecht University from 25 to 29 June 2019 for the annual User Group Meeting of the leading technology iRODS Consortium. This open source data management software is a central element in Utrecht University's IT research strategy.

Data management of great importance for research

ITS Director at Utrecht University Carolien Besselink explains: "We are proud to have received the international experts here at Utrecht University for the second time. Research data management is of great importance to us and the researchers within the UU. Innovation is important in order to be able to support scientists in carrying out research. iRODS does this by linking research data to metadata. This enables us to store data securely and in a documented manner."

Utrecht University organised the Hackathon

During this congress there were more than 25 presentations from the user network and the development team, live demonstrations and discussions. On Friday 28 June, Utrecht University organised a Hackathon where the participants worked together on, for example, a next project or fast system integrations.
