On Monday 23rd March the Utrecht University Team for the 2015 Telders International Law Moot Court Competition successfully qualified from the National Pre-Selection Round for The Netherlands, and will now participate in the forthcoming international competition. Held at the Grotius Centre for International Legal Studies in the Hague (Leiden University), the team were able to successfully plead the fictional case of The Faranian Shark-Finning Dispute, and address intense questioning from the judges’ bench. Facing their respective counterparts from The Hague University of Applied Sciences, who are the incumbent winners of the 2014 International Competition, Catherine Blanchard and Kristine Ŝļujeva represented the applicant, Farania, whilst Vivien Szalai-Krausz and Alice O’Connell defended the position of Totara. The team are now busy preparing for the Semi-Finals to be held in May, with the full intention of progressing to the Finals held at the Peace Palace. The team is coached by Otto Spijkers (assistant professor public international law), Nelson Coelho and Arron Honniball (PhD candidate).
