Stronger research and education with the help of ITS

Our academics often collaborate with the IT professionals of our university. In this video, we hear four academics who, together with an IT specialist, were able to arrange their work more efficiently and more effectively.

Blended learning and gaining time in the screening of articles

The four stories are further showcased in separate videos, which make it clear how closely the ITS Office is involved in our primary processes of education and research.
Bald de Vries (an Associate Professor of Legal Theory and Education at the Faculty of Law, Economics and Governance) and Sjors van der Beek (Information Manager and an information analyst at ITS Education Services) tell about the way in which IT has added value when it comes to providing education. Professor of Methodology and Statistics Rens van de Schoot and ITS Developer Jonathan de Bruin tell about their collaboration with funding from the Research IT innovation fund, in which a tool has been developed that lets researchers gain very much time in screening and selecting articles.

Efficiently saving, managing and sharing data

Chantal Kemner (Scientific Director of YOUth cohort) and Ton Smeele (Data Management Specialist ITS) explain their collaboration for the strategic research theme Dynamics of Youth and for the YOUth cohort. ITS developed YODA (Your Data) in collaboration with the YOUth consortium. This is a reliable system in which big quantities of data can be saved for longer periods of time. After this, YODA is also being used more and more by other research groups. And Bas van Breukelen (Assistant Professor of Bioinformatics for Proteomics) and Bert van Beusichem (ITS storage) show how their collaboration has resulted in an efficient way to save and manage research data.
