Special issue of Image [&] Narrative: 'Audiovisual Memory and the (Re)Making of Europe'

Astrid Erll and Prof. Ann Rigney (Comparative Literature) edited the special issue (18.1) 'Audiovisual Memory and the (Re)Making of Europe' of the journal Image [&] Narrative on transnational memory culture in Europe.

This special issue was one of the outcomes of the EU-COST project 'In Search of Transcultural Memory in Europe' (ISTME) (2012-2016). Through a series of case studies it demonstrates how film and television are helping to create a transnational memory culture in Europe; it  also shows the limits of these processes by revealing new strategies of re-nationalisation. It includes an essay by Dr Judith Keilbach (Media and Performance) on the documentary Holocaust and how it was adapted for English audiences.
