Runbrandt runs against cancer in animals

Sander Gabel, known as Runbrandt to his followers, used his art of running to raise money for cancer research on animals. On Friday 6 November, he ran a route of no less than 24 kilometres in the shape of an animal.

On his action page, you could follow Runbrandt in real time on 6 November as the route was revealed kilometre by kilometre while running. You can also support Runbrandt on this action page.

Get moving

Sander became famous this spring for his running routes shaped like animals. Before hitting the road, Sander looks up exactly how he has to run in order to draw an animal. Then he goes for a run with the app Strava, which shows exactly where he has been with lines on the map.
As a passionate dog owner and animal lover, he devotes himself to the campaign ‘Fighting Cancer Together’ by Friends of VetMed, the charity fund of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.

Sander has drawn the route he is going to run exclusively for Friends of VetMed and makes it available afterwards on www.dierenroutes.nl. On this website, people who support the campaign get access to animal-shaped walk, run or bicycle routes, or they can make routes themselves.

Making better treatment possible

Inga Wolframm, from Friends of VetMed, says: “Research costs money and unfortunately, cancer research on animal patients often does not qualify for grants. Together with animal lovers, we want to make more research and better cancer treatments for animals possible. We are very happy that Sander ‘Runbrandt’ Gabel wants to support us with one of his fantastic creations and hope with him that many animal lovers will follow his example.”

The campaign is supported by Van Lanschot Healthcare, Prins Petfoods, Avonturia De Vogelkelder and Onori.
