Pieter Vader receives Prix Galien award

Pieter Vader was awarded for his research on drug and RNA delivery with nanoparticles and exosomes, vesicles that our cells use for communication. He studied chemistry and master Drug Innovation at Utrecht University, followed by a PhD project at the Utrecht Institute for Pharmaceutical Sciences, with prof. Raymond Schiffelers and prof. Gert Storm as promoters. He continued his research at the UMCU where he now is associate professor in the Central Diagnostic Laboratory. He received prestigious personal funding like the Rubicon, Veni and Vidi grants. An introduction to the Prix Galien can be found in the video below.

It is worth mentioning that from the other two shortlisted researchers, dr. Thomas Dorlo studied Drug Innovation as well.

RNA and nanoparticles featured in another award as well. The Prix Galien Excellence Covid19 award went to Comirnaty®, the Pfizer mRNA/LNP vaccine.
