Designing for Debate – workshop report
Report of the workshop held on 27 January 2023
During the Designing for a Debate conference on January 27th at Utrecht University, a broad group of experts from different fields came together to learn more about provocative design and how to implement it within three different societal themes. The attendees were challenged to work together in groups and create prototypes, which they later presented.
After a keynote speech on a provocative design by Danielle Arets (Lector Journalism and Innovation Fontys), three problem owners presented the themes that would be tackled throughout the day: sustainability, digitalization, and inclusiveness. The presentations offered background information on the faced problems and ideas on where to direct the design process. Next, it was time to deep dive into the cases in separate groups.
