Chinese Government Award for Da Wang

Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-financed Students Abroad for Da Wang

Dr. Da Wang

Da Wang, a recent PhD candidate at the Debye Institute for Nanomaterials Science, has been awarded the "2018 Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-financed Students Abroad" from the China Scholarship Council (CSC).

The recipients worldwide were chosen for their outstanding accomplishments in any discipline. This award is considered as the highest award given by the Chinese government to the graduate students that study outside of China and that do not receive any financial support from the Chinese government. The number of students leaving China to study abroad is more than a half a million each year, making this prestigious award highly competitive.

Wang received the award for his PhD project “Quantitative real-space analysis of colloidal supraparticles self-assembled from monodisperse nanoparticles” in the Soft Condensed Matter group under the supervision of prof. Alfons van Blaaderen. Currently, he is a postdoc at the Electron Microscopy for Materials Science (EMAT) centre of Antwerp University.
