At the festive opening of the Academic Year at the School of Law, Cécile de Munnik and Guus Zondag were awarded the 2023 Teacher Talent and Teacher Award. The JSVU did this on behalf of all law study associations in Utrecht. The other nominees also received praise: Peter Blok and Ferry de Jong as teachers with five years or more experience and David Wendt and Cindy Nwosu as teaching talents (less than five years).

About Cécile de Munnik, the jury said on behalf of all students: She takes on every challenge and fights and is committed to involve students, also through knowledge clips and other means. Cécile does a lot of seminar teaching in the major private law subjects (Law of Obligations, (Introduction to) Property Law and Civil Procedure) in the first and second year. .But she also supervises theses and graduation projects with pleasure and dedication. The students notice that Cécile is always eager to learn herself. Moreover, she always ensures a pleasant working atmosphere in her classes.

About Guus Zondag, who unfortunately has now stopped teaching and is working as a lawyer, the students said, among other things, that he can connect very well with the experience of students. He enjoys teaching, is passionate about Private Law and makes the course material accessible. He knows what questions are coming because it hasn't been that long since he asked those same questions himself.

About the other nominees

Peter Blok: A true inspiration for his students and his knowledge as a judge makes his lessons fascinating.

Ferry de Jong: He loves his work and he radiates it. Makes the sometimes difficult field of criminal law understandable.

Cindy Nwosu: Her experience as a lawyer and the practical knowledge she can impart are greatly appreciated. She is also strong in making good digital lectures.

David Wendt: He makes sure that everyone is able to follow, even if the material is difficult. He knows how to make students enthusiastic about the subject.

The JSVU also thanked all teachers for their work on behalf of all law students at Utrecht University. And everyone who makes it pleasant to study law in Utrecht.
