Prof. dr. Jochen Monstadt
Jochen Monstadt holds the Chair for Governance of Urban Transitions at the Department of Human Geography and Spatial Planning at Utrecht University. His research interests are at the interface of urban studies and social studies of technology. He has conducted and coordinated extensive research on the urban governance of socio-ecological and socio-technical change in the global North and South. He has broad expertise in spatial planning, in particular on the relation between infrastructure and planning. Examples include energy transition, smart grids and water infrastructure. Jochen Monstadt teaches in core courses as well as in electives on Urban Infrastructures in the Master’s curriculum.
Prof. dr. Niki Frantzeskaki
Niki Frantzeskaki is the Chair Professor of Regional and Metropolitan Governance and Planning. Niki specializes in urban transitions and their governance and planning, with a focus on sustainability, resilience, liveability. Her international research focuses on the governance of and with nature-based solutions for contributing to climate change resilience and just urban futures. With a portfolio of on-going projects in Europe, Australia, Canada and the United States of America, she has extensive international research experience.
Prof. dr. Edwin Buitelaar
Edwin Buitelaar is a professor of land and real estate development at Utrecht University. His research focuses on issues related to land, real estate and urban development. His work is positioned at the policy-science interface.
