Symposium ‘Youths and Digital Platforms: Vocalizing Voices from democratic and non-democratic Settings’

to

Join us on January 29, 2024, at Kromme Nieuwegracht 80, Utrecht, for an immersive exploration into the ever-evolving world of youths and digital platforms.

Dynamics of Youth, one of Utrecht University’s four strategic themes, invites you to a symposium organised by its ‘Becoming Adults in a Changing World’ research community. The symposium features various participants from the Netherlands and other countries around the world.

As the online landscape continues to rapidly change, it is important to reflect on these changes particularly as they relate to youths’ digital platforms. The symposium gives practitioners, academics, policy makers and other related stakeholders an opportunity to discuss digital issues that matter in youths’ lives in a fast-changing world. Participants meeting in the centre of Utrecht, should anticipate discussing these and other questions.

  • How are youths from different societies appropriating digital platforms to achieve positive social, political and economic change?

  • Are digital platforms improving issues related to engagement and civic participation?

  • Which dominant social media platform do youths use and why?

  • What skills do youths from various societies need to be able to participate online and what happens when they don’t have these skills?

  • Which challenges are associated with youths’ use of online platforms?
