Big History #4: From chimpanzee policy to megacities

to

During prehistoric times, societies only existed of small groups with no more than a hunderd individuals. Today, societies count millions of people, sometimes even hunderd of millions. How could this transformation happen? And did it influence mankind in a good or rather bad way? During the fourth edition of the Big History series, Prof. dr. Annelien de Dijn (Department of History and Art History) will discuss the role of emperors and the use of violence in realization of civilizations throughout history.

This event is part of the serie 'Big History' organized in collaboration with TivoliVredenburg, The Centre for Humanities and the Centre for Global Challenges. For more information and other editions, please visit Big History #4 (in Dutch).
