My academic and research background is at the ‘ecotone’ of rangelands/grasslands ecology and soil science. I integrate basic and applied research that encompasses aspects of plant-soil interactions, soil C cycle and sequestration, land use changes, sustainable land management, ecological restoration and rehabilitation.

I am particularly passionate about combining sustainable land management practices and approaches such as rainwater harvesting techniques and reseeding using perennial grasses native to African arid and semi-arid rangelands to address global environmental challenges e.g. land degradation and desertification, especially in African drylands.
