My academic and research background is at the ‘ecotone’ of rangelands ecology and soil science. I integrate basic and applied research that encompasses aspects of plant-soil interactions, soil C cycle and sequestration, land use change, sustainable land management, ecological restoration and rehabilitation in agricultural and natural ecosystems.
I am an interdisciplinary researcher interested in assessing the potential of combining sustainable land management practices e.g. in-situ rainwater harvesting and seed-based ecological restoration using perennial grasses native to African rangelands as a nature-based solution (NbS) to address global environmental challenges e.g. land degradation, desertification, climate change and biodiversity loss.
