In addition to her daily activities at Utrecht University, Yvonne has been actively involved in post-graduate trainings of veterinarians and veterinary technicians in the Netherlands and abroad. She has invited as a speaker by various organisations and has given lectures at various (inter)national conferences including the Biotechnical days, DANS, Dutch Wildlife Healh Symposium (DSWH), iViP, IP congress, Dutch Fall conference, Dutch Society for Zoos (NVD), Permanent Education Companion Animals (PEGD), Proveto, Dutch Spring Conference and the European School for the Advancement of Veterinary Studies (ESAVS) in Europe and Asia.

In addition, Yvonne also contributes to the international development and advancement of Avian and Exotic Animal Medicine. Since 2014, she is a member of the Examination Committee of the European College of Zoological Medicine (ECZM) and as such contributes to putting together the board exams for future candidates of this College, served as avian specialty lead for this committee between 2017-2019 and has been chair of the entire committee since 2019. Yvonne has furthermore been co-chair of the International Committee of the Association of Avian Veterinarians, together with her direct colleague Nico Schoemaker from 2014 to 2018 and served respectively as president-elect, president and past president of this same organisation between 2017 and 2020. As part of this function Yvonne also became a member of the Trilateral Committee that organized the Exoticscon Conference, and served as program chair in 2017-2018 and as conference chair in 2019-2020. Additionally, she is involved in the European Association of Avian Veterinarians where she serves as a member and currently as chair of the avian scientific committee for the ICARE conference. 

Yvonne furthermore serves in various other organisations that focus on animal health and welfare. For example, she is a board member of Stitching Animals, independent advisor in the Commissie Dierbaar, former member of the PAC (Positieflijst Advies Commissie) and member of the Expert Panel on Infectious Diseases, a national committee which advises the government on issues related to disease outbreaks in animals. Since 2019, Yvonne also serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Avian Medicine and Surgery.
