Tijs Tobias is a veterinarian researcher in all fields of porcine health management. Tijs is a diplomate of the European College of Porcine Health Management and as such an EBVS Registered European Veterinary Specialist in Porcine Health Management.

Tijs works at Royal GD in Deventer as veterinarian - specialist porcine health management and is seconded at Utrecht University for 1 day per week. The secondment aims to intensify the cooperation between Royal GD en Utrecht University relating to pig health research.

His research is that of pigs in general, but with a focus on infectious diseases and epidemiology, including biosecurity and antimicrobial resistance. However, specific welfare topics related to pigs have his special interest as well (e.g. euthanasia and changing to keeping pigs with curly tails).

Tijs is a member of the Dutch Welfare Committee for Notifiable Diseases
